Dr Nathan Hollier who is the manager of Monash University publishing group, wrote that the libraries now are actively create knowledge and disseminate this to the world around them. One concrete example of this is the trend towards the establishment of publishing operations within libraries.
The Australia National University, Sydney University, University of technology, University of Adelaide, Swinbourne University and Monash University all have library based university presses and more of this kind of press are on their way across Australia.
Library can be seen to be well positioned and have a strong motivation to take advantages of new oppertunities to published widely, deeply and comparitively cheaply, afforded by the dramatic development of digital technology in recent decade.
With the change in digital technology University Libraries are embraceing the digital paths to content deliveries which they refer to as electronic opperation.
This helps the press and the library to reach out and engage in new ways with readers and the wider community.
